Refined ICUMSA 150 White Sugar for Sale

ICUMSA 150 white sugar

We sell refined ICUMSA 150 white sugar in bulk to food processors, bakeries, confectioners and wholesale traders around the world, shipped in containers from our supply bases in Thailand and Brazil. It is a refined cane sugar with a colour limit of 150 IU: white to the eye, food grade, and usually the most economical refined white sugar on the market. When the sugar disappears into a recipe, this is often the smart buy.

Here you will find the specification, what the grade is good for and where it is not, packing, documents, ordering steps and answers to common buyer questions.

What ICUMSA 150 white sugar is

Every refined sugar is graded by colour using methods from the International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis. The reading is in ICUMSA units, and lower means whiter. Premium grades go down to 35 or 45. ICUMSA 150 white sugar allows up to 150 IU.

What does that look like? In the bag it is white. Next to ICUMSA 45 in bright light you may notice a faint creamy tone, and a strong syrup made from it can carry a very light straw colour. Once it is baked into a biscuit, boiled into jam, mixed into a sauce or dissolved into a coloured drink, the difference is gone. You still get refined, high-sucrose sugar. You just don’t pay for whiteness your customer will never see.

Where a whiter grade is the better call

We would rather tell you now than after the container lands. ICUMSA 150 white sugar is not the right pick for clear beverages, white icings and fondants, clear hard candy or premium retail packs where shoppers judge the sugar by eye. For those jobs, look at our ICUMSA 45 sugar for sale, crystal white sugar or refined sugar ICUMSA 35.

Grade comparison

Grade Colour (IU) Typical use Relative price
ICUMSA 35 35 max Clear beverages, pharma Highest
ICUMSA 45 45 max General food and drink, retail Higher
ICUMSA 100 100 max Bakery, confectionery Middle
ICUMSA 150 white sugar (this page) 150 max Cooked and mixed foods Lower
Raw brown cane sugar 600 to 1200 Re-refining, brewing Usually lowest

Two direct comparisons may help: ICUMSA 45 vs ICUMSA 150 and ICUMSA 150 vs ICUMSA 100.

Switching a production line to ICUMSA 150

A lot of our ICUMSA 150 white sugar goes to factories that used to buy ICUMSA 45 and wanted to cut their sugar bill without changing the product. Done carefully, the switch is usually painless. Here is how plants we work with tend to handle it:

  1. Test a sample in your real recipe. Not just in water. Bake it, boil it or bottle it, then compare colour and taste side by side with your current sugar.
  2. Check your finished product spec. If a customer contract mentions sugar colour or a specific ICUMSA grade, you may need their approval first.
  3. Run a trial batch. One container is enough to run real production for a few weeks and see how the sugar handles in your dosing and dissolving equipment.
  4. Lock the spec. Once you are happy, keep the same specification, packing and inspection company for every following lot of ICUMSA 150 white sugar.

Most bakery, jam, sauce and coloured drink producers find nothing changes except the cost line.

Shipping documents

Every cargo of ICUMSA 150 white sugar ships with a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin and quality certificate. Import duties, taxes and clearance at your end are the buyer’s cost. Food import rules vary, but most follow Codex Alimentarius standards.

What drives the price

ICUMSA 150 white sugar is usually priced below ICUMSA 45 and 35 because it needs less refining. The actual figure per ton follows the world white sugar market, your volume, packing, freight and Incoterm, so we quote each inquiry fresh. Our ICUMSA 150 price guide shows how a quote is built, and the International Sugar Organization publishes market updates.

Storage, shelf life and arrival checks

Keep bags on pallets in a cool, dry warehouse out of direct sun, keep them closed, and use the oldest stock first. Refined sugar stored this way keeps well for around two years. Read more in shelf life of refined ICUMSA 150.

When the container is opened, check bags from front and back. The sugar should be white, dry and loose. Wet bags, hard caking, discolouration or odours should be photographed and reported to us and the carrier within 48 hours of receipt.
